People are just a bit extra busy right now being riled up over trolls and other mythical monsters, you'll have to forgive them. It is so much easier to hover over the avatar of annoying people and hit ignore than throwing in your own 5 cents at them. That way they'll scream at a wall or stop when no one is engaging with them anymore.
