I tried to make a character card for Calcharo from Wuthering waves. It's not really accurate because I used another character's head mod(Head mod from OoOoO, Hair from 白5B). Let me know if anyone needs it.

If you've been collecting his cards for a while now you would know that all his recent stuff does this style of "hair." This is why all of his preview pictures are taken directly from the front, so it looks seamless and you can't notice anything is off by looking at the side of things. It's too bad that a newcomer basically got scammed into buying the new Suisei because they didn't know about this lazy practice of cardmaking.

Ironically, his newer Sora and AZKi cards are some of the better looking ones that have been put out in a while because they use other people's hairmods.

What resolution is that texture?

512? It looks really dirty, that's one of the problems. The second is that it doesn't seem to use a detail mask or a custom normal map, which works wonders on flat surfaces without consuming a significant amount of resources. I thought I was the only one lazy about making zipmods, but I see I have competition.

Image resolution is vital for texture quality and overall card size; however, it shouldn't be overdone, and this is something I learned a while ago:

Alpha Mask: 64x64 up to 512x512
MainTex: 1024x1024 up to 2048x2048 (I believe that using 4K textures or higher overloads a field that doesn't know how to calculate it with unnecessary data; Koikatsu isn't a game that requires this)
Mask: 1024x1024 - Some only work with 256x256

Matcaps come with 225x225 by default. That hair they showed is curious, because I think the texture uses a 512x512px dimension, and that is a real problem, because it's no longer about saving storage, it's about doing the job halfway.

Did they charge you for that? Does the hair even have dynamic bones?

The rule most people follow here is that, if a creator makes an effort to make their content available for free after a certain period of time, we should avoid sharing their content as it's normal that someone making KK content full time should expect some form of compensation for their work.

People who make no effort to make any of their content available for free after a certain time, however, enjoy no such protections here.

The importance of sharing content for free is so people can continue to become interested in Koikatsu. If newcomers had to pay for every card, scene and plugin, no one would get into Koikatsu, and eventually people like you could not make any money from it if no one plays and buys. If anything, currently declining sales numbers among supporters of paid KK creators is likely a result of the economic downturn combined with an increasing amount of paywalled content creating a barrier of entry for new people.

Similarly, if every KK content creators out there had to operate like most industries, and pay license fees to creators to use plugins and mods like Madevil, Xukmi, KKUTS, augh, Creamstar, nHaruka, etc. in commercial works, then you would likely not make much money, or even lose money, running a paywalled content page.

A real world example is people using a pirated version of photoshop to make paid content, and were contacted by Adobe and sometimes sued, for using a pirated license.

I will give you props for being one of the very few creators out there who doesn't abuse copyrighted characters they do not own and do not have the commercial rights to use in paid content, but that's about it.

Basically my point is that if you only harvest a field, and never seed or maintain it, eventually it will be barren.

Feel free to ponder on this.

I'm not attempting to be a white knight, and yeah I do ask for paid content, but I still respect the authors and telling them to just make their stuff free instead of more accessible just because they make an appearance in this forum doesn't make any sense.

Only person I would make an exception to this statement would be Leool/Releo. They made a koikatsu scene recreation of my favorite blender creator, and they locked it behind a 3 month+ paywall, and if they made an appearance here I would tell them straight up to fuck off.
