I always liked Kyonko's since they did custom texture to make the hair detailed + good body and face overlays, also generally good body proportion to begin with

Working from existing cards helps a lot, I've tried making characters from scratch but putting hairstyles together piece by piece is pure hell and I have nothing but respect for the people that do it, that's the reason why I label my cards as edits and credit the original author, once you have a solid foundation the process goes much more smoothly.
As far as making heads and faces you should get as many reference pictures from the source material as possible and keep in mind that translating a 2D image to a 3D model is not going to be 100% accurate, this applies to characters from anime or games like Nikke or BD2 where the originals are just illustrations and many times not consistent in terms of proportion.
I would suggest just opening a few cards that you really like and playing around with the sliders and you'll eventually get a feeling for it
If you have any specific questions I can try to help as best as I can

Thank you so much for giving your thoughts dude! 🤝 The one question I really have is just workflow. I know everyone has their own style of working with Koiktasu, and most answers I do see is "you'll get a feeling for it" or "it comes with experience" which is an understandable answer because it stems from experience of the individual. But I'm actually stuck on getting this "feeling" coz I have no idea what else to do. Maybe something more like how do you mash everything together with multiple cards even with multiple references?

Spoiler: The specific situation I'm facing

You are pretty much the guy I'm looking for because you are getting resources and making edits from existing cards. But I'm doing the same thing, and even I'm literally struggling to get something I like. 😂

The DOLLHOUSE doesn't share their edits so making it myself is my only option now. There are two cards in particular that I want to edit to get their their look because I do like their style which I'm trying to copy.

There are a few others, but I'll limit it to these two because they are the biggest difference to what is available. Both Samus and Rosaria don't have anything close to what is being shown in the pictures so I figured that I can make it myself. Two problems, first problem is the current set of cards. If you look up Samus Aran or Rosaria, you pretty much not going to get anything like it. Even some of the latest posts for their cards don't look like this. Second problem, even with refereneces, getting the sliders to match what I'm looking at.

The biggest example that is prefect for what I'm going for is your Chun Li.

Out of all of your cards you've released, this has got to be the biggest jump up from what is availble when searching for Chun Li in Pixiv, kemono, bepis, or Google. For real bro, this has got to be one of THE BEST Chun Li cards ever. This is where I was truly impressed and was inspired by your work. The style of P. Jackson that was used was absolutely perfect for this and I didn't know I needed a Chun Li card until I saw yours. (maybe Cammy next 😋)

This is pretty much what I'm going for. You really make good edits dude. Any advice to getting something similar to your workflow is what my goal is.
